Together my husband and I have worked with adolescents for over twenty years. So many times we have heard parents say things like, “I can’t take it anymore.” “I’ve had it.” “I give up.” Parenting is difficult and at times may seem impossible. Parenting issues can also lead to marital problems. We work with the family unit as a whole. Families are complicated. Issues they face may include substance abuse, mental illness, parenting struggles or marriage/relationship issues. It’s because we believe in the family unit we want to help as many families as we can develop and maintain a healthy family environment. We provide counseling in a non-judgmental environment for those seeking parenting classes, counseling for adolescents, marriage counseling, pre-marital counseling, and counseling for the entire family.
Solution Focus therapy is our approach. All families are different. The goal for one family is different from the goal of another family. Together we will help you identify the goals you seek for your family. Solution Focus Therapy is an evidenced based therapy that is goal-oriented and focuses on achieving solutions to the problems that families are experiencing. If you are in need of pre-marital counseling, marital counseling, individual counseling or family therapy we are glad you decided to take the first step by calling Elephant in the Room Counseling Service.
We understand that marriage often comes with disagreements. It’s difficult to communicate when there is constant arguing, infidelity, financial disagreements, blended family issues, and parenting issues, or the inability to just talk. We are Co-counselors working together using solution focus therapy to help married couples build upon and strengthen their marriage and move forward to a healthy and successful marriage.
We provide six one-hour sessions for couples preparing for the lifelong commitment of marriage. Sessions will focus on communication, conflict resolution, finances, sexuality, spirituality, marriage goals, and family. Our goal is for you to have a healthy, long and successful marriage. If you are a Georgia resident, at the conclusion of the sessions you will receive a certificate of completion which allows you a discount towards your marriage license.
Sometimes it’s necessary for youth to attend therapy sessions without their parents. We provide counseling for teen/adolescents with an overall goal to help them develop skills to strengthen their overall functioning within the family, school, and social environments.
Who can a Pastor or Minister talk to when they are in need of counseling? Elephant in the Room Counseling Services provides a safe non-judgmental environment for clergy to discuss issues that they are not able to discuss with members of the church. Ministers can also feel depressed, have anxiety, stress, substance use issues just to name a few. Our goal is to assist you in moving forward in the direction God has ordered for your life.
More Americans than ever are cohabiting. Making the choice to live together and not marry is the new normal. We respect that choice however, couples in long term relationships also have couple’s issues. We provide counseling in a non-judgmental environment for those seeking to live in healthy, non-marital relationships. I am a Licensed Minister and I have a Master of Arts in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. I have been counseling for over 20 years. My counseling theory is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The goal is to change patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind people's difficulties, and so change the way they feel. I work to help adolescents and families discover their functional and faulty thinking, and how it affects their family unit for better or worse. I believe the foundation of a healthy family unit is God, love, and laughter. I have co-counseled with my wife for the past 5 years. I am happy you decided to let me help you reach your own unique family goals.
